What is Needle Felting?
Needle Felting is a process which uses barbed needles to interlock wool fibers to form a more condensed material. Wool fibers have scales which when rubbed against each other catch and lock into place to create this denser material called felt. Needle Felting can
be time consuming but is a very satisfing hobby. If you do not like doing mistakes, then needle felting is how to show your creativity.
A Basic Idea of Felting Needles…
Felting needles come in many types and sizes. They come in as a Single Needle, a Double Needles Pen or Multi Needles Pen. Sizes vary as well but, in general we can devide needles into three categories:
Thick Needles: Felt faster & do not break easily but leave visible holes on felted objects. Generally used for initial steps of object shaping. Medium Needles: Used in further shaping and tightening felted wool. Thin Needles: Are used to refining and detailing the felted object.
How much wool roving should I use ?
Start with less wool than you think needed, you always can add more to make your object bigger but you can’t take it away.
